The carpal tunnel is playing up. Back to radio silence.

Wound up getting the FFVII: Remake released yesterday. I haven't started playing it yet - that's for the weekend - and I'm not allowed to talk about it until the 10th, which is the actual release date. I can see I'm not going to be bored this Easter.

I can hear the shrieks of glee from the writing community from here - we have our dream of "I just have to think about the story and it's there" a bit closer! This may be aimed as medical technology to allow people who are shut in their heads to communicate with others but I suspect the big buy-in will come from the writing community. Still a bit surreal in places, but that never stopped James Joyce...

Still got the RSI, but I'm going to be trialling an ergonomic keyboard and mouse combo while working from home today. Yup, the day has come, and I'm working from home like so many other people. We shall see how it goes.

The big change to my lifestyle is not coming from COVID-19. It's coming from the infestation of sugar ants we currently have in our kitchen, which has so far resulted in the loss of some foodstuffs (anything left on the counters for longer than an hour is at risk) and which means our kitchen counters are currently unusable for keeping items (appliances, toaster, kettle) on. Never mind the virus, it's the fecking ants which have me wiping down the counters twenty times a day.

I dropped into EB Games yesterday, to just check on what the situation was with regards to things like "were they still open" and "what's the story with picking up pre-orders at this point" and discovered one of the games I'd ordered and paid for had been released about a week or so early. Persona 5 The Royal is now available in stores, for anyone who's interested. Guess what I spent yesterday afternoon doing...

I've decided from here on in until the other end of this thing (whenever that happens to be) I'm going to be lighting some incense for whichever deities get me through the day safely. They may or may not be named, but their efforts are going to be recognised, no matter what they're up to. Presumably they exist - and even if they don't... well, it's a nice little ritual which gives me a bit of closure each day and says "I survived".

Does anyone know whether anyone has ever done "zombie plague outbreak on cruise ship"? I mean, the nearest I can think of to this one being done cinematically is probably "Alien: Resurrection" (where it's "human-eating alien outbreak on cruise ship In Space!!!"). Oh internet, share your wisdom with me - has this been done before?

* Change over the CDs in the car - we have a CD player in our car, which is a 6 CD stacker, and I tend to put in 6 CDs and listen to them all twice each. Then change over. Today is CD change day. At present I'm alternating CDs by that prolific group "various artists" and other single-artist CDs in my collection. I think I'll keep that up for a while.

1) Updated my household expenses (aka "money tracking") spreadsheet with about 4 weeks worth of receipts and expenses.
2) Reconciled my accounts for February 2020 (both of these things had been being put off and put off because "too hard", and have now reached point "do it!")
3) Paid a bill, reimbursed my partner for groceries he purchased this week, put some money in his account to cover cleaners, and cleaned out the paper trays on my desk.

1) Don't have to do jury duty - it got cancelled.
2) Still at work, and still working.
3) Another quiet weekend at home, like normal.

So I'm just a little sulky and annoyed with the universe (and quite frankly, the bit where we have a rent inspection happening next Thursday, on top of me also having jury duty coming up next week, is just the fucking cherry on top of a shit sundae). I'll get over it. But I'm going to pout for a couple of days more.

On a purely selfish note, it leaves me in a situation where my immediate cognitive and sensory load becomes a lot heavier. Given I'm also working four days a week in a job where I'm supporting the team which is directly responsible for COVID-19 preparation and awareness for my employer (a large disability support provider in the Perth metro area), this is not something I really need right this second. Especially since my main means of stress relief (swimming) has been taken off the list due to COVID as well.

I understand their position - they have to do something to reduce the demand on their services and restrict them to the people who genuinely need them. But, as one of the people who does genuinely need the "Click and Collect" service (being inside a supermarket doing my shopping is a heavy cognitive and sensory load for me, and it leaves me exhausted for the rest of the day afterwards) I can't help but resent the decision.

Coles have cancelled delivery orders from 19 MAR 2020. They've cancelled "Click and Collect" (pick up from store) orders from 18 MAR 2020. Guess when my grocery pick-up day was.

Just got myself a free Spotify account, and I'm busy going through and marking things as liked or not. Re-finding a lot of old favourites of mine, as well as a lot of new stuff I'm liking. Just have to remember to mix the new stuff with the oldies, so I'm not steeping in the 80s and 90s indefinitely.

Stay home and play computer or PS4 games. No, this isn't me self-isolating because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is an ordinary weekend for me.

1) I got told by other members of the team at work that my note-taking and summary skills are recognised, appreciated, and valued.
2) I found some new fanfiction stories to subscribe to.
3) Playing "Kind Words".

Early plan for day: head up to the big shopping centre after my blood test and buy some more books. Revised plan for the day: wait around for the nice man from the RAC for an hour after my blood test, and then go buy a replacement tyre for the car. I pick up the replacement at 1.30pm.
