This is more in the nature of a warning than anything - our lease where we are runs out on 17 January; we're currently unable to find anything in my home city (or home state) that fits the criteria of both "affordable on my income" and "close enough to work to make commuting feasible" (I mean, there's lots of places we could afford in Kambalda and Kambalda West, but an 8 hour commute each way to work isn't exactly helpful); so we will be moving back in with my in-laws and occupying their downstairs spare bedrooms. For the next couple of weeks, I will be involved in the throws (no, deliberate choice, it's a pun) of packing and storing away our gear (we're hiring a storage unit).
Fortunately, this is likely to be fairly short-term - we'd be looking at 3 - 6 months at best. This is because I'm gaining access to my inheritance early (see "Life is an emotional rollercoaster", from 19 OCT 2024) and once that comes through, we have a fair stab at being able to enter the property market and get a place of our own. Once that's all sorted out, we will be moving again, hopefully for the last time ever. After twenty-something years in the Australian rental market, the idea of not having to move approximately every three years is starting to sound like a lovely one.
But, in the meantime, we have to pack up, run around, cancel everything, figure out the new stuff, sort out this, that and the other thing, and get everything organised for the move. Which is stressful.
