I snagged this particular meme from
raisedbymoogles
You know that meme that goes around sometimes where you post your five favourite kinks and then five favourite couples, and it's like a wish into the universe to see if anybody will write it for you? Let's make it a little more interactive.
Comment here if you want to play, and I will give you 3-6 couples that I associate with you, and you make an entry in your journal talking about those couples and fics that you wish the universe would write for you.
She prompted me with three individuals, since, as she said, "I'm not sure what pairings you're into."
So here goes:
Overall basics - I'm not into angst, ose, morose, and woe. I like happy, or at least positive fic (. I like realistic, sensual sex rather than "insert tab of A into slot of B" plumbing manual stuff (if I want to read that sort of thing, I'll buy furniture from Ikea, thanks). I can handle kink if it's clear the writer has a bit of a clue about basic safety, biology, and psychology (what's going to hurt both physically and emotionally, what can go wrong, why you don't do X with character Y because it would cause a massive meltdown, etc). Oh, and spelling, word choice, grammar and punctuation have to be accurate - there is nothing worse than being catapulted out of an otherwise good story by an egregious misspelling or a taut/taunt error.
1. Steve Rogers (comics or MCU, whichever/both!)
Steve Rogers I have a real soft spot for, both in his comic books version, and in the MCU version played by Chris Evans. However, I have different pairing requirements for each version. The comic books version, yeah, I can see him with Tony Stark - there's something like thirty years of emotional context there and a strong and abiding friendship. The MCU version, not so much - there hasn't been the connection made between Steve and Tony in the MCU, so I'm more likely to see MCU!Steve with either Bucky Barnes (long-standing friendship which has lasted down the decades and was strong enough to break Bucky's conditioning!) or with Darcy Lewis (dark-haired woman approximately the same elapsed age as he is, plus she looks like a forties bombshell when she wants to!). I'm quite fond of the fandom trope of bisexual!Steve Rogers (because it's stars and stripes, y'know), and that means a three-way relationship with both Bucky and Darcy works well too. I prefer reading about MCU!Steve because I'm more familiar with that background, and I don't have to chase down wiki pages to keep up with it (plus they don't have Rick Remender writing for the MCU that I know of).
Essentially, I like stories where Steve is coming to terms with the modern world, and realising how he fits in there - and that he does fit in. Stories where he's relaxed enough to have fun with his partners, or surprise them with an appropriately romantic gesture (as in "partner-appropriate" - what's romantic for one person isn't necessarily romantic for another) or similar.
2. Zack Fair
Okay, Zack I see as being Mr Too-Much-Ain't-Enough when it comes to relationships, so I can see him in the standard OT4 (Aerith, Cloud, Sephiroth, Zack), or either of the standard OT3s (Cloud, Seph, Zack or Aerith, Cloud, Zack) or even in the unlikely OT3 (Cloud, Tifa, Zack). This is also why I don't have that many problems with the complicated five-way relationships in Ardwynna's "Mission" universe as well (Angeal, Cloud, Genesis, Sephiroth, Zack). Zack is most definitely bisexual and polyamorous in my head, and he loves his partners regardless of whether or not he's actually having sex with them.
I'd really enjoy fic about Zack taking care of his partner(s) - not necessarily sexually or physically, but emotionally.
3. Riku
Oh, Riku. Riku I can see as being in a three-way relationship with Sora and Kairi, where the two of them act to balance out his tendencies toward self-blame and brooding, while he manages to temper Sora's "gotta save the universe right NOW!" tendencies with a bit of planning and forethought (because he's an anti-hero, and anti-heroes are planners and strategists, rather than "charge in there and work it out as you go along" hero types) and boost Kairi's confidence in her abilities as a Princess of Heart. Alternatively, the relationship Coyo came up with for her "Mirror"-verse stories, where Riku catches the attention of Sephiroth during the events of KH1 and the two of them slip into a relationship that way (and where Riku eventually acts as a sort of anchor to sanity for Sephiroth) is intriguing and interesting, and Coyo makes it work emotionally and logically. I can also see the eventual Riku, Sephiroth, Zack triangle she's heading toward in the "Astray"-verse working out quite well, because for the three of them in that 'verse, their damages intersect the others' strong bits.
I'd like to see more fic which accepts that Riku carries a lot of guilt and a lot of angst over the events of KH1, and that he may not have forgiven himself yet (even though he's working toward it). So I'd like to see a fic where his partner(s) are reminding him that even though he may have done terrible things, he's working to remedy the situation; and that making mistakes is part of being a teenager (he just sorta... over-achieved on that part). So yeah, Riku being cared for emotionally by his partner(s).
