Today has been the day for silly songfic images - I blame 96FM. They followed "Centrefold" by the J Geils Band (which got me thinking of "SOLDIER in the Centrefold", but more on that later) with "Ballroom Blitz" by Sweet. Now, having got kicked off thinking about naughty poses and SOLDIERs, I started listening to the lyrics and got to the bit about "... the man in the back said 'everyone attack' and it turned into a Ballroom Blitz"... and I had this image show up in my head.

I want this iconed, I really do.

guiltyred for acting as my inspiration - I'm pretty sure she wrote the drabble about Yuffie and Tifa finding a SOLDIER centrefold in a Playgirl mag and wondering whether it was Cloud which sparked the whole idea. I just enlarged on it a bit later, when I had a few spare moments. If there are any fan artists out there who're good at photo-realism or photo manips, I may just have a wee commission for you once my finances are in a reasonable state.
The basic notion was a set of five pictures, one each of Angeal, Zack, Genesis, Sephiroth and Cloud; all "tasteful nudes" (ie no visible genitalia) playing with the notion of them as titillating images. I figure Angeal would be standing, looking head-on at the camera, with the Buster Sword vertically in front of him as a rather jumbo fig leaf; he'd be taking things seriously. Zack would be hamming it up for the camera and having fun - he's the one I've the least clear image of, but I suspect there's going to be a bit of playing on the whole "jungle boy" concept. I suspect he'd be standing facing away from the camera, but grinning at the viewer over his shoulder. Genesis would be reclining on a couch, showing off in a very... tasteful way, being his most seductive self. Sephiroth would be mimicking Angeal's pose, but he'd be looking directly at the camera with a hint of a smirk and a raised eyebrow, because Masamune is narrow enough that the question of "is he or isn't he"? (erect...) would come into play (possibly a hint of a reflection here and there...) - and I can see him enjoying himself in teasing the audience. Cloud would be using Tsurugi as a fig leaf, and looking intense and challenging at the viewer.
Now, I don't think any of the guys would look ripped, or have the "condom full of walnuts" look of a body builder - they're not weightlifters, they're not body builders. They're all professional fighters, and they'd regard having a bit of body fat as a reserve as something of a sensible move. Both Cloud and Genesis, in particular, aren't going to look as though they've bulked up. They're relatively slender types, so they're going to look wiry rather than muscular. Angeal and Zack are much more toward the "bulky, muscular" archetype, but even so, they're fighters rather than body builders, and the definition isn't going to be a big thing. The one who's going to have the most defined musculature is Sephiroth, but that's because he's been genetically tweaked to look like a wet dream - and even so, he's somewhere between Genesis and Zack in build.
