I suspect you'd need a Facebook account to authenticate any profile which was created for you by someone else (using no more than your name, city and phone number). As someone who has their reasons for ignoring the Boke of the Face themselves... well, let's just say I'm relatively pleased there seems to be a massive groundswell of people pointing out to the founders that their lovely little idea is widely considered to be ethically dubious, and massively unsatisfactory.
