Normally with jeans, I just roll up the hems a couple of times, and carry on from there. But these were men's jeans, and I'm 5'2", so there was about an acre or so of fabric below the knee, which meant they needed to be properly hemmed. I've tried the iron-on stuff before, but either the formulation we get here in Australia has flimsier glue, or I'm a lot harder on my stuff than the manufacturers were expecting, because it never really lasts well enough for my purposes.
