To be honest? I managed to pin the tutor down with regards to the word count before the whole thing was due in (the preliminary submissions didn't count toward our mark, so I wasn't too worried about that) and once I had the information clarified, the only thing I had to do was edit things down. Which I was capable of doing. Plus, of course, getting assertive and disputatious would have taken spoons I don't have at the moment (at present, my spoons are largely going toward getting the assessment done, rather than arguing about it).
So, sternly worded note about accessibility issues in the course evaluation (which I suspect they are going to pay attention to, given there's a specialist program at the university regarding accessibility for people on the autism spectrum) and a note for them to check with the autism accessibility people regarding this if they have any questions.
