This is one of those things I don't know how to talk about. I never have.

I was bullied. And when I spoke up it only got worse. Until I learned not to speak up, that silence was safer, because silence meant they'd only hurt me...not get others to hurt me too by not believing.

One of the things I can't tell most people about why I play roller derby is that it's one of the only places in my life I've felt safe from that. Which is why when the bullying started up there, I ran as fast and as hard as I could. And the whole time, I beat myself up. I didn't even need someone else to do it for me any more.
