It's nice that expanding your brain counts as work-related. It is, of course, but it's related to future employment, not current stuff. Have to take the long view.
You can get that iron-in seam stuff. Just trim the bottom, fold the hem, and seal. It lasts pretty good, if I remember right. (I often just hand-sew my hems. It's the only sewing I'm any good at.)
I discovered I couldn't watch my kid get a piercing anywhere it made her bleed (and ear cartilage bleeds a lot). I could hold her hand, I could make sure she wasn't feeling faint, but I couldn't watch if there was blood. Weird.
I have nothing on the price difference thing. Except, maybe, municipal taxes? Or maybe rent. I dunno.
I can't think of any hospital around here that has free parking in a lot for any length of time, so 4 hours sounds great. The last thing you need to worry about when taking a loved one to emergency is grabbing change for a freaking meter.
Anyway, I hope your studying goes well, and that you will continue to only have non-emergency emergency room visits.
