None of this saga surprises me in the least - except that it took so long for someone to get caught. This kind of thing has been going on for years/decades/as long as we've had tabloids, and will continue long after NOTW and Newscorp/Murdoch etc are but a memory. There are scores, if not hundreds (or more) of media companies/groups doing precisely what NOTW got caught doing, and now they (NOTW) are being made the scapegoat. Just because we don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't happen - and we (humanity) tend to turn a blind eye anyway, unless it is something personal to us or deeply affronting to our beliefs, or simply so shocking it cannot be ignored.

And if John Hartigan actually believes what he said (about the Australian News Industry being above reproach), I have some lunar real estate he might be interested in...
